In interior design, modular work refers to factory-made units such as kitchens, wardrobes, or cabinets that are produced with precision machines and later assembled on-site, ensuring a uniform finish, faster installation, and easy maintenance or replacement of parts. In contrast, manual work is crafted by carpenters directly on-site, offering a higher degree of customization and the option to use solid wood or unique designs, but it is more time-consuming, heavily dependent on the carpenter’s skill, and often costlier. While modular interiors are ideal for those seeking speed, consistency, and convenience, manual work appeals to clients who prefer handcrafted detailing and don’t mind investing more time and money for a personalized touch.

For bathrooms, the most preferable board for a false ceiling is PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) panels or cement boards (like Gypsum with moisture resistance or Fibre Cement Boards).

  • PVC Panels: Highly water-resistant, lightweight, durable, and resistant to mold or termites. They are easy to clean, require low maintenance, and come in various colors and finishes, making them ideal for wet areas.

  • Moisture-Resistant Gypsum or Fibre Cement Boards: These are also good options as they can withstand humidity better than regular gypsum boards, though they may require proper waterproofing and regular maintenance.

👉 In summary: PVC false ceiling panels are the most practical and long-lasting choice for bathrooms, while moisture-resistant gypsum/fibre cement boards are the second-best option if you want a more premium, paintable finish.

Yes, modular work can definitely be customized, but within certain limits. Since modular furniture is factory-made, you can choose from a wide range of finishes, colors, materials, layouts, and accessories to suit your space and style. However, the sizes and structural elements usually follow standard modules, so customization is more about design choices and configurations rather than freehand shapes or unique carpenter-style detailing. If you want complete freedom in design, manual work offers more flexibility, but modular interiors balance customization + precision + durability—making them ideal for most modern homes.
